Man Beats Girlfriend With Bedpost; Flips Car Fleeing Police
Police said the woman arrived at work and her coworkers called an ambulance.
An Olivette man beat his girlfriend in the face and body with a wooden bedpost at their apartment Saturday, police said.
Olivette Police said Bradley Cowan, 21, of the 9000 block of Olive Blvd. in Olivette, was waiting for his girlfriend when she arrived home. He then began hitting the woman with the bed post and his fists, police said.
The woman arrived at work later with injuries and coworkers called an ambulance, and she was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
Later that day, Cowan spotted Olivette Police waiting for him outside his apartment and sped away in a car about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Police chased him as he ran a red light, struck another car and flipped his vehicle.
Cowan was treated at a hospital for injuries in the car wreck and released.
Cowan has been charged with second-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest.
He is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
