Mayor Merdinian Won't Run For New Council Term
The filing period for April's municipal election opens Tuesday.
Olivette Mayor Arthur Merdinian confirmed to Patch this week that he will not seek a new term on City Council in April.
Merdinian was elected to the council in 2010 and has served as Mayor since April 2012.
"I have decided not to run for personal reasons," he told Patch via email earlier this week.
City Councilwoman Missy Waldman's seat is also up for election in April. Patch has been unable to reach her for comment regarding her plans.
Council members suggested Tuesday that former Councilwoman and Mayor Ruth Springer could be on the ballot again. When asked directly Thursday if she was planning to run, Springer did not tip her hand either way.
