Week 6 MVP: A Field of a Talented Five

Voting goes on until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

 

Time to close out January with the Week No. 6 MVP in Ladue-Frontenac and Olivette.

Here are the nominees for this week:

  • Maddie Wessell, John Burroughs swimming. This freshman is perhaps the most dominant swimmer in St. Louis. She has the second fastest time in the 100 free style, the 100 backstroke; third in the 200 free and the 50 free and the 500 free.
  • Erin Nelson, St. Joseph’s Academy basketball. This senior is headed to Saint Louis U. Leader on a 16-3 team with a 16.7 scoring average. She led St. Joe with 21 in the win over Dexter in the Charleston Shootout over the weekend.
  •  Cornell Johnson, Ladue basketball. Junior guard is leading the Rams with 13.9 points per game. The Rams are having a banner year with a 15-3 record.
  •  Jimmy Carney, John Burroughs basketball. Senior guard had a game-high 22 including five, 3 pointers in a 63-61 win over Westminster Christian Academy.The Bombers are 16-1 this season.
  •  Kat Friese, MICDS diving. Sixth best in the area this year, MICDS won the Metro Swim title this past week. One of the top performers in the state.
