Star Trek: Into Darkness Patch Blogger Mark Glass: **** It’s time again to boldly go...where tons of TV and movie cameras have gone before. Space. The final frontier. For context, this is the second feature film showing the original crew of the Enterprise in the beginning of their careers, in an alternate time line, allowing both overlaps and variations from the stories and characters that started the whole franchise. That allows Benedict Cumberbatch (best known as a contemporary Sherlock Holmes…

The Great Gatsby Patch Blogger Mark Glass: **½ This latest screen version of the classic novel is a mixed bag of assets and flaws. Director and co-writer Baz Lurhrmann ambitiously tries for a 3-D spectacle with several lavish party scenes that Busby Berkeley would have envied. He inserts bits of anachronistically modern music into this 1922 setting. That worked beautifully in his Moulin Rouge, and hilariously in the opening joust of A Knight’s Tale, but feels overly…

If you haven’t seen the first two flicks, don’t start here. You’ll be missing too much backstory to get into the flow. For veterans of the first two blockbusters, Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow are back as the leads, with Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau reprising their …

After last year’s sleeper sensation, Beasts of the Southern Wild, we get another soggy setting for a lesser, but still worthy, coming-of-age drama that’s more about specific characters than a subculture. Here, a couple of teen boys, Ellis and "Neckbone" (one of the coolest nicknames in movie history) find a guy (Matthew McConaughey) hiding on an island in the sleepy backwaters near their small …

Parents, friends and relatives will be able to look over the artwork of all the students in the school.
The Old Bonhomme School art show is a school wide event involving 410 artists. It was begun over 35 years ago by Mary Giles, the former art teacher. Students review their portfolios and select their two best pieces to exhibit. The work is then matted and hung by parent volunteers and teachers. The exhibit also highlights several 3-D works by students. The event is Tuesday April 23 from 7-8 p.m. at Old Bonhomme Elementary School. The 2-D work will be up on display until the third week of May, the 3-D work will only be on display the evening of the 23rd. There will be two additional highlights: a 4/5th grade tile installation of rain forest animals which is a gift to the school from these two grade levels and a new tile frieze created by …
