Payne Family Homes Tapped to Build St. Jude Dream Home

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has tapped Olivette-based Payne Family Homes to build the 2014 St. Jude Dream Home.

Payne Family Homes is one of the St. Louis region’s fastest-growing homebuilders.  Building and giving away homes in nearly 30 markets in 2014, the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is a 22-year tradition that is one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  To date, more than 340 homes have been given away and the program has raised more than $270 million to save the lives of children with cancer and other deadly diseases at St. Jude.

“We are constantly in search of not only a great builder, but a partner that embodies the heart of our founder Danny Thomas’ wish that no child should die in the dawn of life,” said Alan Hargett, Construction Specialist of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.  “We are proud to have found just such a partner in Payne Family Homes, a company that believes in neighbors helping neighbors and supports our mission of finding cures and saving children.”

With nearly 4,500 finished square-feet featuring four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, the St. Jude Dream Home house is Payne’s Breckenridge II and will be valued at an estimated $510,000.  The home, located in the Ohme’s Farm neighborhood in St. Peters, will showcase a covered deck, fully finished basement, and bonus room over the 4 car tandem garage.

“Our goal is to raise as much money as possible to help St. Jude save kids’ lives and many of our subcontractors are generously donating their services, allowing us to pull out the stops and build a home with the finest options and finishings,” said Ken Kruse, President of Payne Family Homes.  “We encourage all St. Louisans to come out to the open houses later this year and reserve a chance to win, it’s going to be worth it!”

“We are excited to be part of such an amazing program,” Kruse continued. “The work done by the doctors, researchers and medical professionals at St. Jude’s is vital and life-saving. St. Louisans are known to be great givers and we are humbled by any role we can play to ensure that St. Jude continues to bring advanced technology and hope to young patients and families.”

The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway was created in 1991 by Dr. Donald Mack, a pediatric physician from Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Mack is a member of the ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Board of Directors and Governors who has relied on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to treat many of his young patients with catastrophic diseases. The first St. Jude Dream Home was constructed in Shreveport and raised $160,000 for St. Jude.

Payne Family Homes is known throughout the St. Louis region for building the highest-quality homes in preferred neighborhoods.
