Family Dollar Store Coming to Olivette in About 8 weeks

The Family General Store at 9435 Olive Blvd. in the Olivette Plaza doesn't look like much now, but according to one of the construction workers: "come back in three weeks and you'll see something."

Presently, there is no lighting in the 8,000 square feet of space. Dry wall is just going up and the floor is still bare concrete.

In eight weeks, the place will be brightly lit; the floor will be covered and the aisles full of low-cost general items such as household cleaning supplies, holiday treats, hygiene products and the like.

"You never know when these things will be done. All of the permits are approved," said Olivette's Public Works Director Mike Gartenberg.

This will be a welcome addition. Fashion Jewelry 21 has remained empty for over a year now.

Family Dollar has stores open nearby at 9484 Lackland Rd. in Overland; 7935 Page in St. Louis and 7318 Olive Blvd. in University City.

Olivette will be the 11th Family General Store in the St. Louis Metro.

Southwest Services from Fort Worth, Tex. is doing all of the interior construction to the store.
