Police: Man Performed Online Sex Act For Ladue Student

The incident occurred through a video chat room.

Ladue Police are currently investigating a sex offense case involving a Ladue Middle School student.

Ladue Police Sergeant Gregg Stork said that on Nov. 29, a middle-aged man exposed and masturbated on camera to the student.

The incident happened after the student took a picture of his/her (gender of the student is unknown at this time) own genitals with a cellphone via a video chat room, according to police. Police confirmed the student was using a school computer at the time of the incident.

The Ladue School District released the following statement regarding the incident:

Last week, it was discovered a middle school student had gained access to an inappropriate website during the school day.  As the activity was taking place, the incident was detected by district technology staff. Subsequently, Ladue Middle School administrators investigated the incident, contacted the student's parent(s), implemented appropriate disciplinary measures pursuant to school policy and notified the district's Student Resource Officer, who is also a member of the City of Ladue police department. This prompted a police investigation.  The school district will cooperate fully with this investigation and will protect the student's privacy as dictated by federal law and district policy.

An investigation is currently ongoing.

Patch will bring your more updates on this story as more information is available.

How can a student taking a picture of his/her genitals in a computer area escape an adult's attention?

the story says the kid used a cellphone. I am sure you can take a cellphone just about anywhere. I assume the cellphone was using the schools server. I have no more info than what was in the story.

Incident takes place on Thursday, superintendent asks for leave on Friday. I'm starting to see a pattern. And did the district notify the parents this had happened? Noooo. Also, a middle school kid broke through "security". That's no surprise - every kid in the high school knows how to do that. So you can kiss that one-to-one initiative goodbye as well.

Sadly, Creve Coeur Dad.....although any reasonable person would THINK that this would put the brakes on the one-to-one for the time being....I predict the item will still be pushed hard for approval at the next three public school board meetings. Presentation from tech committee scheduled for Dec. 10th, more discussion scheduled for Jan. 14th and VOTE ON ONE-TO-ONE INITIATIVE scheduled for Jan. 28th. Attend the meetings! Email the board. One email goes to all board members at the same time ladueboard@ladueschools.net. See Creve Coeur Dad, you might even agree with me on this one! :)

I think that one-to-one is the future, I'm just not convinced it should be the future RIGHT NOW. A well thought out plan, I could consider supporting. But i'm not convinced they've thought it through. Maybe they have - I'm willing to see their presentation and supporting documentation and give them a fair shot. I remember last time they did something this big - the plans for the Westminster campus. Worst plan (combined with a personal agenda) ever. It took a near riot on the part of district parents to stop that one, and we should be prepared to do the same thing again. I'm not going to rubber stamp anything, but I'm not going to reject it out of hand either. But I'll admit to being skeptical going in.
