Man Flees Olivette Accident Scene, Gets Arrested In University City

The three-car accident Tuesday morning resulted in injuries for three of the drivers involved.

A man was arrested Tuesday after police said he caused a chain-reaction accident northbound on I-I70 at Olive Boulevard.

Olivette Police Chief Richard Knox said the driver was driving at "a high rate of speed," northbound on I-170 Tuesday morning around 9:40 when he rear-ended the car in front of him and in turn, the car in front of it.

Chief Knox said the driver fled the scene and was taken into custody by Olivette and University City Police in University City.

Chief Knox said a total of three people, including the driver who authorities believe caused the accident were hospitalized. Chief Knox did not have the extent of the injuries sustained. One of those injured was treated and released.
