Olivette Burglary Leads to Police Pursuit

Thieves hit a business next door to the Olivette Police Department in this latest smash-and-grab burglary.

Thieves reportedly hit the Timekeepers Jewelry and Clock Shop on Olive Boulevard, right next door to the Olivette Police Department, around 4:50 a.m. Monday.

FOX 2 reports an officer was in his car in the department parking lot when he heard the store’s burglar alarm sound and drove to the store to find the glass front door smashed out.

The officer then spotted a Lexus speeding off the parking lot and he chased the SUV onto northbound Interstate-170, but speeds got so high that the officer abandoned the chase, FOX 2 reports.

Police also found a red Dodge Ram pickup truck in the parking lot with heavy damage to the rear of the vehicle. That car is now said to have been stolen five days ago from St. Louis and has been impounded as evidence.
