Olivette's Smoke Land Hit by 2nd Smash-and-Grab in 2 Weeks

A break-in on Jan. 15 had a burglar snatch the store's cash register. This morning's break-in was very similar, police say.

Someone has broken into Smoke Land—a booze-and-smokes shop on Olive Boulevard next door do the Olivette Police Department—for the second time in two weeks.

The overnight break-in at 9495 Olive Blvd. came around 1:15 a.m. today, according to a report from Patch news partner FOX2. The break-in came even while boards still covered a smashed window from a break-in during the early morning hours of Jan. 15.

In that break-in, a thief took off with the store's cash register. Olivette police Det. Craig Schneider told Patch at the time that the store had plenty of surveillance video of that incident and had captured shots of the burglar in a hoodie.

In this morning's incident, FOX2 reported that police are trying to determine both break-ins were done by the same person.

The shop, opened since 1998, sells a wide variety of tobacco- and alcohol-related products, including premium cigars, domestic and imported beers and wines.
