Olivette's Property Crime Rate Drops 37 Percent in Five Years

FBI Uniform Crime Report shows steadily decreasing crimes against property in Olivette since 2005, although burglaries have increased slightly.

Property crime in Olivette for 2011 dropped 37 percent in five years, according to the FBI’s recently released Uniform Crime Report. Property crime is 17 percent lower than in 2005, the year the FBI began tracking crime in cities with less than 10,000 population.

Violent crime also was down from 2007 and 2005, although it was up slightly from 2010.

Property crime includes thefts, burglaries, car thefts and arson. The number of burglaries in Olivette was up slightly over previous years.

Olivette's crime rate also fell in the middle when compared to its immediate neighbors, University City, Overland, Creve Coeur and Ladue. However its property crime rate was much lower than Overland's and University City’s rates.
