One More Look at a Frenzied Local Basketball Season
Rebounds fell the right way mostly for St. Joe, Ladue, MICDS and others.
To sum it up in one word, it would have to be "disappointment" for all the local basketball teams.
This was a season of so much promise and no first place hardware to show for it.
Of course winning a state title in any sport is a difficult proposition.

The St. Joe Angels came the closest, leading then falling behind to lose to the Bruins of Rock Bridge of Columbia in the Class 5 title game over the weekend.
Burroughs boys had so much promise, running off the first 13 wins of the season and losing out to Maplewood in the sectionals with just 3 loses on the year. Same goes for the MICDS girls who had a great year, only to lose out in sectional play.

The Ladue boys had a 20-win season, but could not overcome Chaminade at home in the district finals, the first in 15 years at Ladue.
So there you have it. Good, not best and no championships for the locals. But, this winter was very entertaining. Basketball was bundles of fun around Ladue, Frontenac and Olivette.
