A new women’s lacrosse team comprised of some of the best high school talent in Missouri is proving to be some of the best talent across the nation this season.

The women’s MO22 lacrosse team has gone undefeated in its inaugural season, according to a news release. Many of the team’s players, coached by Traci Nelson and Kathy Shortelle, are from Ladue-area schools.

Check out the MO22 Women’s Lacrosse roster, which includes Ladue-area players Barrett Carlson and Steph Kelly from John Burroughs; Ellis Chalfant, Emily Kyman, Olivia Polk, Gabrielle Putnam and Rebecca Welford from MICDS; Sophia Tomaso of Villa Duchesne; and Victoria Wolsky of Horton Watkins.

The women’s MO22 went to Louisville, Ky., and won the Derby City Lacrosse tournament on June 15, then travelled to Richmond, Va., to play in the ILWCA Capital Cup — a national girls lacrosse tournament featuring many of the best players from Eastern U.S. states — during the July 19-21 weekend, according to the news release.

The MO22 women went 3-0-1 for the weekend with their tied game, against a Los Angeles team, called due to weather. They also played against teams from Atlanta, Richmond and New Hampshire.
